When designing the furniture for our shops, we consider their manufacturer, how long they can be used and their subsequent disposal, favoring virtuous processes. Supplies are developed, trying, as much as possible, to avoid adhesives and the irreversible assembly of different materials, thereby making them easier to recycle once they are no longer in use.
Our duty towards the environment begins from the selection of suppliers that are as closely aligned as possible to the most recent standards in terms of sustainability and low environmental impact, with a focus on innovation, and able to optimize the use of raw materials by reducing production waste, simplifying manufacturing phases and improving packaging.
For furnishings and furniture, we are increasingly using panels certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), the entity that guarantees compliance with strict environmental, social and economic standards in forest management), adhesives without formaldehyde and heavy metals, and almost exclusively lacquers that are water-based.
All manufacturing waste is disposed of by companies specializing in recycling and disposal or, in cases such as glue-free solid wood, used to heat manufacturing facilities in winter.
Many of the suppliers are certified according to the type of procurement considered, to enable a safe release to the market, in compliance with specific, recognised standards. Some examples of certification include: ISO14001, ISO14021, ISO19001, Ecolabel, LEED, OHSAS 18001, UNI EN13986 and ISPM-15 FAO.
Even materials used for the manufacture of structural parts are also managed in compliance with safety standards and quite strict environmental compatibility regulations, and disposed of according to the same sustainability principles by suitable facilities. For example, the paint used on walls is exclusively water-based and ceramic floors are purchased from ECOLABEL-certified companies belonging directly to the Italian Green Building Council (LEED).
All our flooring suppliers are ISO 14001/14021/9001 certified, with the Ecolabel environmental quality symbol (a European regulation that establishes criteria for environmental and industrial policies), and also members of the Italian Green Building Council, a group that companies can voluntarily join and that makes it possible to implement precise company policies for sustainable development. They produce their own energy via solar plants.
